Every year the Catholic priests and bishops from all three dioceses in Cambodia come together for a retreat. The venue is the Catholic center in Sihanoukville on the southern coast. |

One of the early arrivals checks the welcome sign for this retreat. Bishop Olivier is always printing up this type of banner which is very common with today's technology. |
One of the priests takes a picture of the retreat schedule to keep handy on his phone. Later we did get a packet with a printed schedule but with the camera he doesn't have to carry around the paper. |
As the afternoon progressed everyone arrived at the center. Some drove together, some like Bob Wynne and I took the bus, a 4.5-hour trip from Phnom Penh. Here Bishop Olivier (second left) talks with Fr. Vidalis, the retreat leader. |
Cambodia is the size of Wyoming but travel is relatively difficult so many of the priests only see each other at this retreat. Here a group of the guys catch up on all that has been happening since last year. |
At 7:00 PM, Bishop Olivier gathered everyone together and gave a formal welcome before we went downstairs for supper, our first meal together. This welcoming time gave an opportunity to introduce the new priests who have arrived in Cambodia during the past year. |
Finally after supper there was an introductory session with Fr. Vidalis who is from the southern-smost diocese at the tip of India. |
